Meet and Greet: Nettie's Niche

The first thing that amazed me about the Upcycling movement is the ingenuity and creativity that some Upcyclers pour into their passion! I use the saying, "Necessity is the Mother of Invention..." a lot, because to me it is necessary to upcycle for the health and well-being of our planet. So whether it is for that or economically driven, we are fortunate to have a community of artisans that not only create but are willing to share these ideas and efforts through blogs, DIY's and articles. Of course, that is the purpose of this blog, Love 2 Upcycle, as well.

One of the ongoing features we will have is a Meet and Greet for our Team of Upcyclers on Etsy! Our forum has a place for 'Getting to Know You', and it is incredibly interesting to read all the diverse backgrounds and stories our members have to tell. So I will be working my way through each one to share them with you!

Meet Nettie! You can find her "Niche" on Etsy...where she sells deconstructed vintage jewelry that she has reconstructed into modern pieces, clutches designed from discontinued fabric samples, and her encaustic paintings in which she reuses a variety of discarded materials. Her style indicates a deep respect for the history of style and reflects a chic victorian and romantic flair. Nettie's necklaces have rich details and complicated levels of texture and color. A veritable feast for the eyes! A rescued lone earring becomes a ring or reloved as an embellishment on one of her clutches.

The organic nature of her paintings create an earthy quality featuring a warm and natural color palette. Her materials once again reflect her knowledge of the history of art and design, using techniques that date back to the 5th century B.C. There is a certain mood that her paintings evoke, one of peace and tranquility that pleases the soul.

Nettie's Niche has an eclectic assortment of items that still maintains a cohesive design and style. Her diverse shop has a little something for us all...
