Watchings found inspiration in the Elements! It was elementary, my dear Watchings!
JHRCorrea didn't know that a chimera (pronounced ki-mare-ah) is "a fanciful mental illusion or fabrication"--did you? That's what all of these beautiful wares in combination are to her...fanciful fabrications from the crazy-creative minds of your fellow teammates and Etsians.
Thanks, Everyone, for showing some Love 2 Upcyclers in your amazing Treasury curations this week! Be sure to check our Treasuries Page~ It's just like going window shopping! But instead of all the walking~ Everything is just a few clicks away!

Love 2 DIY on the Weekend: I Wanna Look Cute!
Thank you to everyone for all of the fabulous positive feedback from my first DIY tutorial last week! I will be back next week to show you a fun project made from an old children's book.
But today I would like to introduce you to Nicheyta (pronounced Nikita). She is an Upcycler member and runs a Jewelry and Hair Accessories shop called Be Free Designs over on Etsy. I fell in love with her hairclips and asked her to show you how to make one yourself! I hope you'll try it - I'll see you next week! ~Sammi

TUTORIAL DAY!!!
Okay so I'm about to post my first tutorial. Please bear with me through this. This tute may be a bit pic heavy. I'm so excited...here goes!
Upcycle Hair clip (no sewing required!)
Supplies needed:
Lining from an dress (or coat/jacket)
hot glue gun
loose beads (mine are from a vintage faux pearl necklace)
scissors
small piece of felt
hair clip
small candle

small candle
Next you will need to cut out 3 circles from the lining in descending sizes. I cut one 3 inches in diameter, 2 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches in diameter. The circles don't have to be perfectly symmetrical.
Next you'll need to light your candle. What you are going to do is burn the edges of the fabric until it curls in slightly. Be careful during this part. You may want a small container of water near just in case. I prefer a small candle with a smaller wick; it allows me to control the fabric and flame easier.

Meet & Greet: byABPryor
Ang loves creating treasures from found objects and things others commonly discard, and embellishes everything.
Ang sells upcycled Art, accessories, housewares, vintage and more.
I asked her a few questions about herself and her shop and this is what she had to say:
Tell us a little about yourself and what you sell.
I'm a wife and stay-at-home mom. I am a former fashion international merchandiser. I create ooak jewelry and houseware pieces from recycled vintage jewelry, found objects and junk. I also sell vintage items.
Why did you decide to work with upcycled/recycled/repurposed/vintage materials?
This was an evolving process. I originally started with beading. However, I became increasingly interested in trash to treasure creations. I can't justify throwing out an items because it is no longer used for its original purpose. I can create new pieces that have meaning and history. Every piece has a story... just like people.
What is your favorite thing about running your etsy shop?
First of all Etsy is an amazing organization. It gives artists an easy interactive venue to share their creations. It is affordable and user friendly. I enjoy all of the means of communications between the sellers and buyers. Also, the opportunity to join in on the learning process. Etsy wants us to succeed. If we succeed then they do... I enjoy being apart of this amazing, giving community. My favorite part? I get to do it on MY time!
What inspires you to create/sell what you do?
I find inspiration in everyday living...fashion, nature, entertainment and relationships. I need to place more of my creations online... that's a confidence hurdle I'm trying to overcome. With the help of Upcyclers I will! ;)

Tuesday's Treasuries!
I was inspired by a treasury I saw this morning to dedicate Tuesday's posts to some of the week's amazing curations by our members of Upcyclers! For those of you who may be new to Etsy and all it's fantastic features, a treasury is a collection of items gathered in a curated composition themed by commonality, color, season, texture or any other concept you can possibly imagine! Our team is constantly coming up with new and creative treasuries to support and promote one another's shop, and although we have a page dedicated to~ Treasuries ~ (which I am sooooo behind on, lately, lol) We would still like to give some of them a moment in the spotlight to reward them for their time and the dedication it takes to make a treasury!
First up~ my inspiration from Funk(E)y Junk Designs! You have to be CLUE~less to figure this one out!
ShopMichL imagined she was styling Sarah Middleton
for her upcoming Royal Wedding~ and decided she should be Upcycled!
And in honor of The Year of the Rabbit and that Peter Cottontail will soon be hopping down the bunny trail~ Who could resist this quirky first curation by Was Now Creations? A little imaginative inspiration for all of us!
With Spring just around the corner why not shop for some new upcycled decor for your home or garden? How about some fresh new Spring outfits or accessories? See more ideas on our Treasuries page...

Monday Makeover with Upcyclers!
HOW TO LEARN PATIENCE
from Isa & Lucy~ From Waste to Luxury Paper
Very often I get asked how my workshop looks like. The area where I work is like my products in constant change and evolution. There was this place behind the kitchen leading down to my workshop. In desperate need of love and tenderness.
I had plenty of old and broken tiles that I had found when moving to the property. Passionate about giving things a second life - that is also the mantra of my business - I started a project of patience and perseverance.

I have always loved mosaic and can not look often enough at the work of Gaudi. The movement and dynamics that the broken pieces reflect forming a complete new unity has fascinated me ever since.
